Some of you probably noticed all this server-related stuff in the Microlinux repositories. MLES stands for “Microlinux Enterprise Server”, and like MLED, this little project’s ambition is to provide all the stuff that’s missing on a stock Slackware installation, with a focus on server-related stuff.
For the time being, the MLES repositories contain just the collection of additional packages I need on my company’s servers: Postfix, Dovecot, Postgrey, Squid, SquidGuard, SquidAnalyzer, Prosody, Qemu/KVM, Glances, Certbot, a collection of extra command-line tools as well as some streaming audio related stuff.
I’m figuring this will only be of limited interest to the public, since most Slackware server admins are control freaks who write their own SlackBuild scripts and compile their own stuff anyway.
Besides the official Slackware documentation, everything MLES-specific is described here:
This guide only covers the MLES-specific aspects of the installation. More general topics like setting up RAID, LVM, Apache, MySQL, Postfix, Dovecot, Samba, Squid, etc. are covered in the official documentation or on my company’s blog (in french).
